Monet: The Early Years at the Kimbell

This fall Texas will enjoy a season of Impressionism. The Kimbell Art Museum will debut Monet: The Early Years while the Museum of Fine Arts Houston will host Degas: A New Vision. Both exhibitions debut October 16. This lavishly illustrated slide lecture will provide an overview of Monet's works within the context of Impressionism. Your trip to the Kimbell will be enriched by attending this lecture. The Kimbell does not allow lecturing in special exhibitions so this is a know before you go lecture series within the context of the period. You will be immersed in that magical period of Impressionism in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries as we will follow Monet and Degas to the end of their careers. This is an unprecedented opportunity to see so many Impressionist paintings this close to home. The Kimbell exhibit will feature approximately 60 of Monet's works from c.1858 to 1872.

The Houston exhibition is the most important exhibition on Degas in thirty years. There are over 200 works featuring paintings, drawings, sculptures, photography, and printmaking from his entire career. Houston is the only U.S. stop for this international exhibition.
